Adele tandem-released her new comeback single “Hello” and its accompanying music video last Thursday (October 22) and subsequently snatched a Vevo record previously set by Taylor Swift.
In 24 hours, the British singer’s Xavier Dolan-directed video, which is the first-ever clip to be shot with IMAX cameras, accumulated 27.7 million views, obliterating the 20.1 million views Swift pulled with her star-studded “Bad Blood” visual.
Adele’s new cut is also predicted to set the record for the largest U.S. digital sales week for a song. The track reportedly moved an estimated 450,000 units in its first two days on sale, according to Billboard‘s sources. The official numbers from the song’s debut sales week will be announced on November 2.
“Hello,” released via XL Recordings/Columbia Records, comes from Adele’s eagerly-awaited 25 album, out on November 20.
