Moments when man whose throat was slashed and his son killed dug himself out of a grave

Moments when man whose throat was slashed and his son killed dug himself out of a grave

Disturbing footage has been released showing the father a murdered boy moments after he dug himself out of a shallow grave with his throat slashed.
Forrest “Butch” Bowyer was stabbed in the neck and his 12-year-old son Brett shot dead by robbers in Alabama in February 2002.
The victims were buried in shallow graves - but Bowyer somehow managed to claw his way out.
Bleeding heavily with his throat cut "from ear to ear", he crawled to Highway 431 in Seale, Russell County, for help.
Only now, 14 years after the gruesome crime, have Russell County Sheriff’s Department released the horrific dashboard camera footage from that night on February 18.

The officer on camera can be heard saying: "I got a man that’s been cut to hell and said his son’s been shot 3 times.
"[The son] is buried in a grave down here at Uchee, and he wants to go get him.
"He was buried and dug himself out, this is a bad one."

In the video, obtained by WVTM-TV News Leader 9 , the officer asks Bowyer who attacked them, to which he responds multiple times, "Jim Brooks".

Bowyer can be heard telling the patrol officer that the killers would likely be back at his home "trying to get some more money".
Brooks and accomplice Michael Carruth were later arrested found guilty at trial.
Both are now on death row, WVTM-TV reported.

Russell County sheriff Heath Taylor told the news channel: "It’s crazy to think about he [Bowyer] survived that night.
"Not one single time do I pass this area, where this occurred, that I don’t think about that case."

For many soldiers, this Valentine’s Day was remarkably different

It was quite a collection on www.thelifebrief.org/loveasoldier most of the notes were thoughtful, some were very emotional and some others actually from friends, fellow soldiers and loved ones of the Nigerian army who appreciated the opportunity to express their thoughts… they were real.

The campaign is still on ... to build the largest collection of love notes from Nigerians to their soldiers to foster a better relationship. Ensure that your note is among, visit www.thelifebrief.org/loveasoldier.

Olugbo-in-Council debunks Oba Akinruntan's EFCC arrest...

Olugbo-in-Council debunks Oba Akinruntan's EFCC arrest...

There were reports online yesterday that the traditional ruler had been arrested for money laundering but his chiefs say this is not true. Read the press statement below...
The Olugbo-in-Council which is the Highest Traditional Body of Ugboland in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State have debunked rumours of the arrest of the Olugbo of Ugboland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Frederick E. Obateru Akinruntan, CON.
Speaking through the Secretary of the Kingdom, Chief I. A. Demehim, the Olugbo-in-Council, asserts that the reported arrest of the Highly Revered Monarch, who is the Paramount Ruler and Prescribed Authority of Ugboland as well as Founder of the Multi-Billion Dollar Obat Group is completely false. According to High Chief Isaiah Demehin, “the news report by Sahara Reporters which is also being peddled by several soft sell bloggers that Kabiyesi was arrested by EFCC for Money Laundering is not only laughable and false but also a sacrilege to the traditional stool of our land.

The Olugbo is domiciled in Ugbo, and Kabiyesi was dutifully attending to traditional matters as well as the needs of his subjects on Friday” Furthermore, Chief Isaiah Demehin stated that it is pitiful that such a blog as widespread as Sahara Reporters would tell a lie against a Monarch while throwing away all ethics which places the onus on them to confirm from the Palace of the Olugbo which is always filled with throngs of people and activities which the Olugbo presides upon by himself or cross check their write up with the EFCC as a mark of professionalism.

In conclusion, he stated, “I wish to advise our journalists to always cross-check their facts and stop embarrassing innocent persons. It is especially sad that any journalist would embark on a path to destroy the great image of Nigeria’s Doyen of Industry who has contributed immensely to the socio economic and human capital development of Nigeria. Our Monarch is a great father and would not join issues with any media house, however, I think it is dutiful of any journalist that is sound to learn how to accord honour to revered traditional stools, and avoid being used by disgruntled persons to tarnish the images of global icons as the Billionaire Monarch whose business conglomerates have transformed Ugboland and Nigeria as a whole.

Drogba defends Serge Aurier who was suspended over homophobic abuse against Blanc

Drogba defends Serge Aurier who was suspended over homophobic abuse against Blanc

Former Ivory Coast captain, Didier Drogba has defended suspended Serge Aurier claiming the Paris Saint-Germain defender had been treated unfairly over his ban for abusing coach Laurent Blanc.

The 23-year-old Ivory Coast International was suspended by his club last Sunday after being caught on the social media video site Periscope verbally abusing PSG boss Blanc. He also took aim at several team-mates including striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. His suspension ruled him out of his team's 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday.

In a post on Twitter on Wednesday, the Montreal Impact striker complained that Aurier's treatment for directing homophobic abuse against Blanc amounted to double standards.

Although Aurier has since apologized for his rant, Drogba said he believed the reaction to the Ivory Coast international's comments had been excessive.

"I don't often comment on these things but the way my little brother @serge-aurier has been treated over the past few days has really upset me so I feel the need to say something," Drogba said.
"Yes he made a mistake, yes he said things he should not have said, but we have all made mistakes, players (myself included), coaches, managers, referees, club presidents, even the fans!
"Even the people saying he should be 'put in jail'.... how can young players learn from their mistakes if they are not given the proper support and advice?
"Should we not be educating younger players on how to behave, preparing them for a world where social media can make or break your career?
"Or are we simply pointing the finger and banning some players but not others? Which simply achieves nothing... Bon courage mon frere. #justiceadeuxvitesses'".

World Cup-winning former France defender Blanc was unimpressed by a subsequent apology from Aurier.

"Lots of people in this new generation spend their time apologising. Rather than do that they should think more before they do anything," he said.

Over the past few years, through the results of our tutees we have convinced not 1 or 2 but hundreds of clients that getting a tutor for their kids is a sure-fire way to boost their academic performance.
Perhaps no single story highlights the benefits of getting a Prepclass tutor as much as the short account provided by Ms Caroline, one of our clients in Surulere, Lagos

Getting a prepclass tutorfor my daughter, Debbie was one of the best decisions I made 2 years ago. It was a difficult decision for me being a single mother who was facing certain amounts of financial constraintsbut I was so concerned about my only daughter and her academic performance was paramount.Since Miss Temi, the Prepclass tutor started teaching her there has been progressive improvement in Debbie’s grades. She was usually within the range of 45% - 55% but gradually moved up to an average of 78% after9 months and above was above 90% around September last year.

Debbie’s entrance resultsinto 3 of the top secondary schools in Nigeria was so outstanding that she got a full scholarship offer from one and a part scholarship from the other. Miss Temi was the perfect tutor for Debbie. They both spend time tackling past likely questions. The burden of helping her with homework was taken off me. Her class notes were duly supervised, her performance was well monitored.

I could have gotten a teacher from the school but getting someone with a totally different technique really helped.Getting a tutor has never been easier than using prepclass, simply fill theirhome tutor request form here, They take extra pain in ensuring that they understand your needs, a client relationship officer will visit you to understand what your expectations are and determine the kind of tutor that would be capable of fulfilling your expectation. In our case, they got us a professional female tutor who lives close by, had a lot of exposure and experience and Prepclass was constantly providing support in regard to curriculum and even materials for the tutors.

Getting a tutor is really an investment. Sending your child to school is nothing special, but getting a prepclass tutor for your child is that extra mile you can go to in order see your child excel far beyond the his or her peers.

Photos: A family outing to watch thunderstorm turns into tragedy as mother & her 3 children are swept away

Three children were washed away during a flash flood in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday afternoon. Their bodies were found in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The children, Moza, 11, Mansour, 6, and their three-year-old brother Fazaa, were buried at a cemetery in Wadi Mai yesterday along with their mother, Amna Al Jabiri, who also drowned.

The three youngsters had joined their mother and father, Ali Al Kindi, to watch the thunderstorm that was lashing rural areas in the south of Ras Al Khaimah.

The family had left their home at Wadi Mai at about 3pm and drove to the Wadi Al Qor valley. But their car was caught up in fast-moving flood waters.

As the car filled with water, the family scrambled out through the sunroof, but the children were swept away by the torrent.

Police were able to locate the car with help from residents. The children’s bodies were recovered hours later after a search. Moza’s body was found at 11 that evening. The body of her brother Mansour was found at 3.30am on Thursday and Fazaa three hours later.

Amna, who had three other children, had already been found and taken to Al Munaiey Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7pm. Relatives yesterday told of their shock and grief.
Rashed Al Kindi said he received a call from his brother-in-law Ali at 5pm to tell them his wife and children had drowned.

"The incident was shocking. Ali was crying and saying his wife had passed away and they couldn’t find the children. We took off right away to Wadi Al Qor to be beside Ali and to help with the search," said Mr Al Kindi.

"They went to see the hail and left their other three children at home. The car engine stopped working at a point in the middle of the valley where more than one water stream crosses.
"The water filled the car and they jumped from the roof of the car. The water was running fast and they were swept away by the current.
"Ali latched on to a tree branch to try to save his family but he couldn’t."

Mayed, 18, Zayed, 16 and Haza, 15, are being cared for by their relatives.

A bus hit a cargo truck north of Ghana's second city Kumasi overnight, killing at least 73 people on Wednesday evening.

The head-on crash, which left 13 people seriously injured, occurred 420km north of the capital Accra when a Metro Mass Transit coach bound for the northern town of Tamale from the city of Kumasi hit a truck loaded with boxes of tomatoes, regional police chief Maxwell Atingane said.

"Many of the passengers on the bus died on the spot,"Atingane said.

A witness said the scene was "pathetic and gory" with passengers trapped in the bus wreckage.

"There were human bodies strewn around," said George Blah, a resident.

Several of the passengers with severed body parts were trapped in the mangled bus as the locals struggled to cut the vehicles to retrieve the dead and those alive.

The locals who had to resort to chainsaws to cut the bus in order to reach the trapped passengers believe all the occupants of the Metro Mass perished.

Atingane said initial reports suggested a mechanical failure on the bus caused the accident but police were investigating.

Bismark Owusu Fosu, medical director at the Kintampo hospital, said some of the injured had been evacuated by air for treatment in Kumasi, Ghana's second city.

President John Mahama commiserated with families who have lost loved ones , describing the motor accident as a "very sad news" in a Tweet and Facebook post, Mahama assured that the “emergency services working to attend to injured passengers."
